As part of the BTA’s marketing team, you’ll work with multiple departments, in general, to help make our email and social-media communications great. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you’ll contribute to content development and creation; assist with platform management, and support community management and audience cultivation—with the aim of sending insightful and engaging emails, and social posts deepening our relationships with our members, visitors, and followers around the world.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Prior professional writing and/or content-production experience
  • Basic photo- and video-editing skills, and confident familiarity with social in-app tools
  • Skilled experience with a variety of digital platforms—we currently use Convert kit for email, Canva for social and we’re on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Exceptional organizational skills: ability to manage different work streams, projects, and close and long-term deadlines simultaneously
  • Consistency and great attention to detail
  • Data-driven or at least “data-curious”
  • Enthusiasm for using online tools to reach audiences, meet goals, and bring people together through art
  • Experience with project-management software (we’re on Clickup)
  • Artificial Intelligence and/or ChatGPT skills are a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Content creation—brainstorming ideas; crafting words for emails, tweets, and captions; making and/or tracking down images, videos, and graphics.
  • Production support—creating and managing monthly asset requests (design and image) for email and social media; supporting the Marketing Manager with the planning, logistics, and execution of social-media productions (this will include occasional live social coverage at select public events and education programs); supporting the creation of asset packages for marketing, press, and others parties as needed; and routing content approvals by internal and external stakeholders
  • Scheduling and publishing—following and updating the marketing team’s content calendars in Clickup; drafting, formatting, and scheduling emails, and social-media posts (organic and, occasionally, paid social); sometimes publishing content that can’t be scheduled in advance
  • Quality assurance and accessibility—doing final checks to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and best practices are met with, tagging, image descriptions, alt text, captioning, and more.
  • Platform management—proactively supporting the upkeep and maintenance of our social channels (Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook); updating information and links, swapping stories, changing banners, etc.
  • Audience cultivation—working with the Marketing Manager and the Community Director to pull audience segments for email and updating and correcting constituent relationship records where necessary
  • Community championing—going beyond standard community management, you’ll initiate conversations in the comments and direct messages; make friends with our followers, and peer organizations; help answer their questions; de-escalate heated exchanges; see what our members are sharing and help us crowd-source content: listen to what followers are saying and report back to us so we can improve everyone’s experience both online and with programming.
