Bio

I’m riding out this pandemic in South Florida, but I’m usually a full-time traveler, exploring new-to-me places around the globe and revisiting old favorites. I used to be a super-stressed lawyer, but now I help women leave burnout behind and create the lives they long for while traveling the world on career breaks and sabbaticals. I’m currently co-creating an expat/sabbatical summit for Black women called ExodUS Summit (exodussummit.com).

What Inspired You To Help Launch BTA? What Is Your Ultimate Goal For The Organization

If you look at “Best of” lists in the travel space, you rarely see Black creators, unless that list was written by another Black creator. Now, I normally don’t care about external recognition, but these types of lists can lead to actual dollars from partnerships with brands, and I do care about Black creators being paid. I want Black Travel Alliance to be a place for us, by us that helps improve the visibility of these creators. I want our audiences to be respected and valued, I want the Black travel dollar to be given the respect it deserves.

When I’m Not Fighting For The Cause, Things I Like To Do Are

I love long walks on the beach… no, really I do. But I’ll take a long walk anywhere. It’s my favorite way to explore a new city or neighborhood – walking for hours at a time. But I also really value rest, so napping is one of my favorite hobbies along with bingeing old shows I’ve seen before (it’s easier to fall asleep when I’ve seen it before). I’m big on stress reduction and avoidance, so yoga, meditation, and minding my own business are high on my list too.

My Favorite Food/Drink I’ve Had and In Which Country

Steak in Buenos Aires. Hands down the best meal I’ve ever had. It didn’t hurt that it was accompanied by a perfect wine and followed up by the best ice cream in the city.

Currently Reading or Listening To Right Now

I just finished the Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett and it was so good that I am moving on immediately to another novel by her, The Mothers.

Organization or Charity Supported

I love to support the arts and Black people, so I show up for the African-American Shakespeare Company in San Francisco in every way I can. (https://www.african-americanshakes.org/)

Three Things You Cannot Live Without:

I can’t live without my phone, a daily dose of sunshine, and dark chocolate.
