6 Simple Ways To Support Black Travel Alliance
First, we want to say thank you for supporting the Black Travel Alliance (BTA); we appreciate it. Many of you have asked how you can support us, so we drafted some ideas for you. Here goes…
Join the Black Travel Alliance (BTA)
If you’ve not already joined us, show your support by joining BTA. There is power in numbers. Let your voice be heard. As a supporting member, you will be the first to know where the organization is heading as you will receive our bi-weekly newsletter. You will also be privy to any events that we are holding and be able to support those efforts.
Spread the word about BTA
If you do an interview, write a blog post, post on social media, talk with your families and friends, mention BTA whenever it’s appropriate. BTA, along with all your help, will change the face of travel to be more inclusive!
Where appropriate Share our events and our blog posts with your audiences if you are on social media and/or have a travel blog.
Let us know your experiences
We want to hear the good, the bad, and the indifferent. If you’ve worked with a brand that you feel has done an excellent job with diversity and inclusion. Let us know! If there are some brands that you feel should be doing better, let us know that too. If you don’t feel like “telling on the brand,” we totally understand that too, just send them a note or talk to them about your experiences. Together, we can make a difference.
Share opportunities with us
If you see a job opportunity, travel opportunity, grant, press trip, etc. tag or DM us on social media or send us an email so we can spread the word to our Black travel content creators. We already have a thriving Jobs Board. No more excuses for brands saying they can’t find Black talent. We’re working on an entire directory for just that.
Tag a friend
Our posts, opportunities, tips may not be for, but if you have a friend that could benefit from them, tag on social media or email them and let them know. With your help, we can reach even more people.
Hold brands accountable
Ask the tough questions. What is your organization doing to actively ensure everyone feels included? How diverse is your executive team? Do you have any data that shows diversity throughout your organization? Ask the questions that should be asked. You can take a look at the brands that have already committed to standing by the Black Travel Alliance and Black Content Creators. See if they are holding true to their words. Politely challenge them if they are not.
These are just some of the things you can do to support. If you have any additional ideas, let us know and we will spread the word.
Thank you for your support. We appreciate it!
