Exodus Travels (Surbiton, Surrey) is the leading tour operator of small group adventure trips. We offer over 400 outstanding itineraries, including walking, wildlife, culture, winter and cycling trips to 100 countries across Europe, Africa, Americas and Asia. Our customers travel in groups of 8-16 travelers accompanied by Exodus guides and explore some of the world’s most fascinating places, like trekking in Machu Picchu in Peru, climbing Kilimanjaro or cycling in Vietnam. Exodus Travels also run a smaller, self-guided European specialist brand called Headwater who offer around 150 itineraries. The Director of Sales & Marketing position provides crucial leadership to Exodus in North America, accelerating brand awareness, revenue growth and profitability through strategic planning and analysis. The right candidate must have strong digital experience and a proven record of delivering double digit sales growth in the US and Canadian markets.

This role is remote with some travel required to UK, other States in the USA and Toronto, Canada.


  • Crafting a robust performance marketing strategy and execution plan
  • Advising and updating partners on marketing plans, activity, and drivers of performance
  • Aligning with global marketing processes to work effectively, and with global brand propositions and guidelines to maintain brand consistency and efficiency
  • Strategic planning on marketing activity, handling performance, payback and setting growth strategy
  • Representing the voice of the US (and Canadian) customer across the business, maintaining and articulating a clear understanding of the North American customers’ needs
  • Fostering market and competitor data into pricing and promotional strategies – seeing opportunities for market share acquisition
  • Improve and optimize the current sales process and ensure adherence
  • Set targets, performance plans, and objective standards for sales specialists
  • Promote personal development of team though implementation of individual development plans annually and review regularly
  • Coach and mentor individual sales and marketing leadership team
  • Resolve advanced customer service issues regarding sales and service
  • Support customers and senior management team in leading customer crisis situations
  • Support Regional Director in creating a case for change and holding central office teams accountable for development to support the market opportunity (for example Tech and Product)
  • Unite the team: Ensure specialists work as a positive unit and share their standard methodologies
  • Set a good example for the team. Work according to company culture and values, prioritize dedicatedly, use effective communication, and deliver results optimally


  • Strong collaborator and communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience. Track record of delivering high double-digit growth for a similar sized brand in the North America market
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent planning, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding leadership and management skills
  • Strong discernment, meticulous and persuasive
