In this role, you will…
- Cultivate, steward, and expand the relationships between Road Scholar and our communities using marketing, communications, and PR tactics
- Play a major role in increasing the organization’s visibility and managing our brand awareness and identity
- Facilitate various engagement strategies that lead to growth in our PR and participant networks
- Report to and support the Director of PR but also work collaboratively with colleagues in marketing, communications, development, participant experience, programs, and beyond
On a typical day, you might…
Morning
- Answer questions via email from our team of Ambassadors
- Review Road Scholar media mentions in the daily press briefing
- Read through the day’s “Help a Reporter Out” email to see if there are any press queries we should pitch to
- Spend some time checking the Facebook inbox and engaging with commenters
- Attend a Zoom meeting about a new marketing campaign and give your input on how social media can support the campaignAfter Lunch
- Curate and schedule next week’s Facebook posts
- Do a phone interview with a Road Scholar participant for a PR pitch that you will draft later this week
- Take a quick walk to clear your mind
- Add our latest press release to the Road Scholar press webpage
- Start pulling together content for the Ambassador Newsletter that you’ll work on throughout the week
You may be perfect for this role if you…
- Are a skilled written communicator with a deep understanding of the nuances of language
- Know how to shift your tone, voice, and style for a variety of different audiences and mediums
- Are enthusiastic and personable with strong verbal communication; an intuitive “people” person
- Are an organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated multi-tasker
- Are creative, outside-the-box thinker with strong problem solving skills
- Have a background in or ability to quickly learn software, from social listening tools, to Photoshop
Bonus points!
- Educational background in writing, communications, PR, advertising, or marketing
- Experience in customer service, event coordination, and/or social media
- Background and/or passion for travel, education, or not-for-profit work
- Comfortable and charismatic when public speaking or on camera
