Bio

I’m the creator of Misadventures of an Outdoorsy Diva Blog, host/producer of the Outdoorsy Diva Podcast, published photographer, speaker, and CEO of Lauren R. Gay Consulting where I offer consulting services for blogs and podcasts, courses, as well as curated group adventure trips and one on one adventure consulting.

I’m a travel writer, based in Tampa, FL, and social media influencer who is passionate about inspiring and empowering black women to step out of their comfort zones for new experiences in travel and adventure and embracing nature as therapy. I’m also an advocate for racial diversity and inclusion in outdoor recreation and adventure travel.

What Inspired You To Help Launch BTA? What Is Your Ultimate Goal For The Organization

I wanted to join my fellow Black travel content creators to launch BTA because I wanted to make meaningful, lasting change across this industry. I want to see Black travelers represented across all genres of travel through advertising and marketing. Black travel content creators also need more opportunities to partner with brands in a fair and equitable way.

When I’m Not Fighting For The Cause, Things I Like To Do Are

I love to explore new places, chasing waterfalls, kayaking, visiting our National Parks, and I’m also a Harry Potter super fan. I’m also a foodie at heart and mom to one amazing son.

My Favorite Food/Drink I’ve Had and In Which Country

Raclette from Kappacasein cheese dairy in Borough Market in London. If you love cheese this a cheese lover’s dream.

Three Things You Cannot Live Without:

1. Water, beach, waterfall, river, lake, spring, whatever. I just need some kind of water fix at least a couple times a month.
2. My son. He’s my reason for why I grind so hard and my favorite adventure buddy.
3. I can’t live without my relationship with God.
